Apparently I can give away a pair of running shoes from sportsshoes.com to the person I like most...
What you could win... |
I started running years ago, and I've done it on and off (more off than on, if the truth be told) since. I don't go very far, very fast or very often, but it's becoming (famous last words) something I actively want to be doing.
Because I've had a revelation recently - I've realised I like running. I don't know when or how this happened, but the last two times I've been I haven't had to convince myself to go, despite wind and rain. And, while the main motivation for running remains, as it always has been, the pay-off in cake-consumption it allows, it's also suddenly more than just something I have to endure.
What you can't win. |
Whatever it is, I'm enjoying it, and I don't want it to stop. So, for your chance to win the prize (a pair of running shoes from sportsshoes.com up to the value of £90) all you have to do is leave me a comment letting me know why you think I should keep going....
Yes, you lot are going to be my motivation, so make it good!
*********************************************************
The small print:
Please leave a comment by the end of the month (31st October!) giving me some motivation to keep running.
The winner will be selected randomly from everyone who leaves a comment.
The winner will be able to choose a pair of running shoes of their choice up to the value of £90 from sportsshoes.com.
The shoes will be despatched direct from them to you.
Any questions ask me....
Why can't I win your old trainers?
ReplyDeleteYou should keep going because the elderly ladies in strange tracksuits will miss you if you don't. Look on it as community service. You're brightening up their day. Actually, that's a very bad reason, isn't it? And I would quite like a pair of running shoes. So cut that one, and try this: you should keep on running, because you've just said you want to. You said "actively want to be doing". In print. To a public readership. So now you have to.
You're right of course. I've got to now, haven't I.
DeleteBother. Why didn't I think of that?
Iota is very right, but I think she should get your old sneakers and I could win the sparkly new pair firstly because I knackered my old pair walking a half marathon at the weekend and secondly because running gives you a few minutes of time alone, by yourself, to think and breathe and be. If you have kids, you don;t even get to go the loo by yourself.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course if I sold my old sneakers to Iota, I could earn enough money (surely *my* sneakers are worth a fortune) to buy myself a new pair.
DeleteCunning plan eh?
I've discovered running is the perfect space in my week - long enough to think through things and take some time
ReplyDeleteA friend has suggested using Zombie Run to add some spice to the mix - worth a go?
What on earth is Zombie Run?
DeleteOff to find out.
I've always run. It keeps my depression at bay. It also stops me yelling at my family. I just seem more able to cope with everything when I've done a run. These are my reasons for running, you may choose to adopt them. The reason why I think you should carry on running is so I can shout 'run Forrest run' at every available opportunity. This too will make me happy. See win:win!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure the comparison with Tom Hanks is entirely flattering. To either of us...
DeleteIf you run I will. And I'll have new shoes to do it in. What's not to like? Xx
ReplyDeleteYes, but you're hundreds of miles away, so I won't see the new shoes.
DeleteI am exactly the same when it comes to running. My list of why you should keep going is the same as mine:
ReplyDelete1. It does make you feel better. It's the most important fact to remember.
2. Feeling your heart working is very good.
3. Dropping '....when I was running the other day' into the conversation makes you stand a bit taller.
4. Showing your kids that Mum goes running is an important lesson and will make them want to do exercise too.
5. Running makes you less prickly, less likely to have a crazy blow up, more likely to want to have a cuddle and - lets be honest - the right to be just a tad happy-smug.
*crosses fingers as my trainers are proper shit*
The whole setting an example thing had occurred to me... Do you think it will work?!
DeleteAnd smug definitely works for me too!

ReplyDeleteBecause however crap you feel when you're doing it, you'll always be glad you did afterwards. Then whatever else goes wrong in your day (or, more often in my case, however much time you waste), you've achieved something to be proud of.
ReplyDeleteWhat if the thing going wrong is a sore ankle...? Grr.
DeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI also run! My main motivation is knowing that I can eat whatever I like without feeling guilty. If I ever over induldge, I just add another 5 minutes to my run, which is usually enough to make me never want to over induldge again...well atleast not for another couple of weeks! ;)
xannalbrownx@gmail.com
I'm not sure any amount of running would stop me over-indulging sadly... but it's a nice idea! Thank you for stopping by too!
DeleteRunning usually helps me to clear my thoughts, as for motivation...knowing I'm going to feel much better after a good run is enough for me! I always have my ipod full of upbeat songs too!
ReplyDeletesarahlouisa90@gmail.com
P.S Love those pink nikes!
I totally agree on the clear head. A friend of mine is doing a mindfulness course at the moment. I don't really know what that means, but if its about emptying your head of the drivel, that's what running does for me...
DeleteI think you should keep going because as you said, it's always nice to get a bit of fresh air, it's very refreshing! jatkinson031990@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteA bit too refreshing this week as the temperature drops to be honest!
DeleteGreat prize! I find myself getting lost in thought when I'm running, it's great for reflecting on things. Infact, this post had made me feel like going for a run! A new pair of trains would come in handy ;)
ReplyDeletelou.bowmanb24@gmail.com
And did you? I've just done the draw and sadly you didn't win, but hoping the running's going well anyway!
DeleteI think you should continue running because you have mentioned some great positives there, such as meeting people, getting the fresh air and enjoying the countryside etc. Keep going!

Thank you! I will... when I buy myself the new trainers someone else has just won anyway!
